Program Overview
Opioid Overdose and Awareness Prevention Program: A Model for School Health will instruct school nurses, school nurse administrators and school health organizations on how to establish an opioid awareness program in their school or district. It explains how to identify signs and symptoms of opioid overdose; how to obtain naloxone toolkits in schools; which key stakeholders to involve; how to address funding barriers and more.

Learning Outcomes
As a result of participating in this educational activity, learners will be able to
  • Create an opioid awareness professional development training for school health staff.
  • Create a school-based opioid overdose prevention program for local school district.
  • Identify potential barriers associated with establishing an opioid overdose prevention program.
Intended Audience
This continuing education program is a knowledge-based activity developed to meet the educational needs of registered nurses who are interested in child and adolescent health.
