NASN School Nurse Chat: Students with Chronic Health Conditions – The Importance of Parents and School Nurses Working Together Donna Mazyck and guests Lisa Kern and Michelle Grove will discuss challenges and strategies for collaboration between parents and school nurses for students with chronic conditions.

Lisa Kern is, a nationally certified school nurse, NASN Director for the Florida Association of School Nurses, NASN Executive Committee member, and Supervisor of Health Services for Pasco County Schools – supporting the work of school nurses, LPNs and clinic assistants who collaborate together to ensure safe care for over 75,000 students including those with chronic health conditions.

Michelle Grove, a parent to a teenager who has been living with Type 1 Diabetes for 7 years in Washington, as well as an advocate for people with diabetes at the local and national level. Michelle integrates her background as an educator and position as the Regional Science Education Coordinator for Northeast Washington and her passion for advocacy to support families and children with chronic health conditions, including T1D, in local schools, through diabetes camps and education programs, and at the national level with congressional advocacy efforts.
